MyPocketSkill was chosen by the Silicon Valley Comes to the UK (SVC2UK) network, amongst fifty of the UK’s fastest growing tech firms, to take part in a variety of events, as a member of the SVC2UK Scale Up Club. Taking place over three days, the SVC2UK 2022 Summit brought together prominent leaders in the tech community alongside tech start-ups, facilitating mentorship, collaboration, and a sharing of ideas. The Summit explored ways in which technology can be used to enable good growth and solve society’s most pressing problems.
MyPocketSkill is a digital platform targeting Gen-Z, helping them to become financially empowered by allowing them to start earning, saving and learning about money. It has grown impressively in recent months, with user numbers doubling in the last three months alone, and over 50,000 users currently signed-up to the platform.
The founders of MyPocketSkill, Zara Ransley and Matthew Harker, have used their backgrounds in finance and digital technology to develop a ‘learning by doing’ approach to financial education. While giving Gen-Z the opportunity to start earning, MyPocketSkill also prompts teens to set up savings goals, using behavioural science-based “nudges” to build financial capability.
SVC2UK was launched in 2006 by Sherry Coutu CBE, Reid Hoffman and Ellen Levy. It aims to create a global network for tech entrepreneurship, spanning from Silicon Valley to the UK and beyond.
